With U.S. health care expenditures projected to double by 2035, reforming
payment and delivery systems is essential to reigning in costs and achieving
higher-value care. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CHI)
– created by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and mandated to
be operational by January 2011 – has the potential to accelerate, optimize,
and speed health care payment and delivery innovation.

Achieve System-Wide Impact" — Monday, October 18, 2010, from
12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC.

Hosted by the Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform at Brookings, this public
forum will focus on key themes including the importance of strategic public and
private collaboration and alignment of investments to effect system-wide
improvements in payment and delivery, as well as methods to spur rapid
identification, execution,and evaluation of promising payment and delivery reform
models. Experts and key stakeholders will give their reactions to draft concept
papers, as well as discuss issues surrounding CMI implementation. After each
panel discussion, panelists will take questions from the audience. A high-level
